Description:
The Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art is seeking to fill a permanent full-time position of Library Technician to work as part of the Research Library unit to provide an effective information service including document delivery services, circulation and loans, serials management, cataloguing, orders and acquisitions, current awareness services and reference services.
Completion of a Library Technician qualification as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) is an essential requirement to apply for the position. Knowledge of InMagic DB/TextWorks software would be an advantage.
Key duties:
- Provide prompt and efficient lending, circulation and document delivery services.
- Maintain serials processes, including checking-in and claiming; ordering and invoice processing; and shelf maintenance.
- Create and maintain accurate bibliographic records, including original cataloguing and copy cataloguing imported from Libraries Australia and other bibliographic sources and amend to suit specialised local requirements.
- Order and process acquisitions received through purchase, gift and exchange.
- Provide a prompt, efficient and accurate reference service to Library clients, including the daily circulation of digital press clippings and production of the current awareness bulletin.
- Assist in the continued development and maintenance of the Library Information Management System (TIMS, InMagic DB/TextWorks & DB/Text WebPublisher software) and its databases to ensure efficient retrieval of information through the Gallery’s intranet and internet
- Maintain and operate a range of equipment and maintain stationery supplies.
