Sports and Recreation Officer Job vacancy at Ipswich City Council

Job Title: Sports and Recreation Officer (12 Month Temporary Position)
R/N: WP/2188

The Sport and Recreation Officer plays a key role in the development of the appropriate programs and partnerships aimed at enhancing the health and wellbeing and safety of the City's current and future residents through participation in sport and recreation. The Sport and Recreation Officer will report directly to the Principal Officer (Sport and Physical Activity).

The Sport and Recreation Officer will be responsible for the coordination of the Sport Event Sponsorship program and the Sport Event Securement Program. Other key responsibilities include developing, implementing and evaluation a range of community capacity building programs and partnerships; providing a specialist source of information and education programs on matters relating to sport and recreation; and participation in the development of a strategic partnerships framework that encourages the community to adopt a healthy lifestyle through participation in sport recreation opportunities.

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate person to fulfil the role of Sport and Recreation Officer. The successful applicant will possess a degree in Exercise Physiology, Leisure , Sport and Recreation, Recreation or Sport Administration/Management, Public Health or similar, or significant progress towards obtaining same, or have equivalent experience.

Experience in the development, management, implementation and evaluation of programs, specifically sport and recreation related programs is desirable. Substantial skills in the development of partnerships within an organisation as well as the external customers and stakeholders along with substantial knowledge of capacity building principles will be a valuable asset.

Good verbal and written communication skills are highly desirable, with substantial analytical and interpersonal skills, including communication, liaison and conflict resolution with a range of stakeholders on sport and recreation matters.

The successful applicant will have substantial skills in setting goals and achieving outcomes and working under general direction.

This is a fixed-term twelve (12) month full time appointment at classification level 4-6 dependent on skills and experience, with a salary range of $60,120 to $75,722 per annum, plus employer superannuation of up to 12%.
